This tutorial will walk you through step by step how to create an easy elegant holiday postcard with watercolor paint.

Prepare you painting space by gathering your glass of water, paint, brushes, and watercolor postcard.&nbsp;

Lay out your materials

Next you want to mix the color green that you will be using for your mistletoe leaves. I prefer to add a little bit of purple to my dark green to make a darker green. You can mix your color on your painting pallet, by adding water to your brush and dipping it in the paint color of choice.&nbsp;

Mix your green 

Now use your green paint to paint a vertical line on your postcard paper. Since we will be painting mistletoe I recommend painting your leaves upside down. We will turn the postcard over after the leaves are painted to add our ribbon and berries.&nbsp;

Now that you have your vertical line painted lets start adding leaves to the mistletoe. Paint your mistletoe leaves in a tear drop shape coming from the the vertical line.

Add more leaves coming from the stem of your mistletoe. Its ok if the leaves overlap.&nbsp;

Start filling in more leaves

Now turn your card right side up and it should look like your mistletoe is hanging. You will now extend your stem by leaving a blank white space between the vertical lines. This blank space will be where we add the red ribbon.

Use the brown paint from you painting set to create thin lines for the berry stems. You will use very light pressure to make thin lines coming from between the mistletoe leaves.

Start by placing a red dot in the blank space between the vertical lines. Then paint your ribbon loops by painting triangle shapes coming from the red dot on both sides.

Once you have completed the ribbon loops, add the ribbon tails on each side of the mistletoe stem

Now use the red paint to add small dots around the brown stems to create clusters of bright red berries. Once you have added all of your berries your holiday mistletoe will be complete.
