Page 1: The Beginning

ch 6, then slpst into the first ch to form a ring


Row 1: ch 3 (counts as a dc), then place 12 dc into
ring for 13 sts in total


Row 2: ch 3, dc in the same st, place 1 dc in each of
the next 5 sts.In the sixth st, dc ch 3
dc, then place a dc in the next 5 sts and in the last st,
place 2 dc


Row 3: Ch 3 and dc in the same st, place 1 dc in the
next 6 sts, skip the next dc, then in the opening, 3
dc, ch 3, 3 dc, skip the first dc then, place a single dc
in the next 6 sts. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.


Row 4: Ch 3 and dc in the same st, place 1 dc in the next 9 sts, skip the next dc,
then in the opening, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, skip the first dc then, place a single dc in the
next 9 sts. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.

You will notice that we are increasing each side of our shawl by three sts with each
row.

Row 8: Ch 3 and dc in the same st, place 1 dc in the next 21 sts, skip the next dc,
then in the opening, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, skip the first dc then, place a single dc in the
next 21 st. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.

next 30 sts. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.

Row 12: Ch 3 and dc in the same st, place 1 dc in the next 33 sts, skip the next dc,
then in the opening, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, skip the first dc then, place a single dc in the
next 33 sts. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.

Row 13: Ch 3 and dc in the same st, place 1 dc in the next 36 sts, skip the next dc,
then in the opening, 3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc, skip the first dc then, place a single dc in the
next 36 sts. Make 2 dc in the last stitch.

 

You will notice that we are increasing each side of our shawl by three sts with each row. Continue this pattern until you've reached a satisfactory size. For this pattern, I worked up 42 rows in the original sample before finishing off.

 

Finishing Row: Ch 1, sc into the base of that ch 1. Sc into every st up to the ch sp at the peak. Make 5 sc into that ch sp, then place 1 sc into each st to the end of the row.

 

Fasten off & weave all ends.
