Solid purpleheart and maple chessboard. 1 1/2" playing squares, with a 1 1/2" boarder. 3/4" thick. eased edges. Sanded smooth. Finished with our own mix of oils and varnish. Once that is cured, we apply a coat of wax. These boards beg you to run your hand across them. They are smooth, yet you can almost feel the grain from how much it stands out with our finish. Purpleheart will get darker with age. Its a very hard wood, and pairs nicely with the maple. Front side and back side pictures shown.
