These invisible clear plastic backings with the metal hooks are the best.  You can see the background wall behind the clear backing and the metal hooks are really strong.  They won't bend or break.

While I was very  satisfied with the way these hooks were easy to install and held up my Christmas garland in my doorways 4 out of the 9 hooks tore the paint off the wall when I removed them
